Parent Council

Het Palet is an active school where, in addition to regular lessons, the children are offered a large number of extra activities.

Objective of the Parent Committee (PC)

The Parent Committee:

  • Initiates and organizes events for students and parents
  • Supports the school with various activities (purchases and possible organization)
  • Finances various activities, projects, and the Palet Day annually. The school needs parental help to make these extra activities possible for the children. For each activity, this help is organized through the class parents and usually involves supervising a group of children during an activity. In addition, the parent council provides extra support for the teachers in organizing the activities.

The parent council meets 5 times a year. In these meetings, we evaluate previous activities and distribute the various activities among the members of the parent council. This is to make membership of the parent council possible alongside having a job and family life: everyone can choose a task that fits their working life!
We are always looking for active parents who want to contribute ideas and help organize activities for the children. If you are interested in becoming a member of the parent council, please contact one of its members!

Finances
To achieve the parent council’s objective, an annual contribution is requested from parents. This contribution is requested by letter at the beginning of the school year. The contribution is set at € 60,- per child per year. The finances of the parent council are completely separate from the school. The budget is prepared in consultation with the school and approved by the Participation Council.

Annual recurring activities and resources financed by the parent council are:

  • Sports Day: rental of the gym, ice cream for the children
  • Sinterklaas: necessities for activities on Piet’s morning such as baking pepernoten and necessities for shoe setting
